I read back in early this year about recommendations to avoid the latest Nvidia drivers if you own an RTX 40XX card, especially due to issues with the 50XX series. After following that advice, I encountered problems after updating my drivers, prompting me to revert to the stable version 566.36 from December 2024. Now that the latest driver is 580.88, I'm wondering if I should go for the update or stick with my current version. Are there known issues with the latest drivers for the 40XX series?

There’s no real reason to update unless you're dealing with specific game issues. If everything's running smoothly, just keep your current setup. Why mess with a good thing?
Honestly, I’d say don't bother updating unless you're having problems. There’s been a lot of complaints about corrupt drivers recently, so if your setup is working fine now, just leave it as is. I thought my old GPU was on the fritz until I cleaned up my drivers and rolled back. All the issues cleared up!
Totally agree! I updated for a game that enforced the latest driver, and ended up with all kinds of crashes. Sticking with the stable version worked wonders!
Exactly what I was thinking! Thanks for the reassurance.
