I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU on a budget because I'm planning to get a 1440p monitor. I've been wanting to play Doom: The Dark Ages, but it requires ray tracing, which my current 5700XT struggles with. It still runs games at 100+ fps on high/ultra settings without ray tracing. I found a few 6800XT cards for around $400, which is my max budget. Is this upgrade worth it for gaming at 1440p, or even just 1080p? How long will it keep up with newer games?

Honestly, I think the 6800XT might let you down with ray tracing at 1440p. If you're okay dropping the resolution for those games, it's worthwhile, but if you're mainly focused on ray tracing, there might be better options for you.
The 6800XT is a solid choice for 1440p gaming, especially if you want to dive into ray tracing. For $400, it's a good deal, but consider looking for a used 3080 or even a 3080 Ti if you can; they offer better performance overall. Just make sure you check the condition!
Yeah, I'd be fine going to 1080p for some games that need ray tracing. Just want to make sure I can play them without a hitch.
