Should I upgrade from my Ryzen 5800X?

I'm currently using a Ryzen 5800X with 32GB of DDR4 3200 RAM and a 3070 with 8GB of VRAM. While it runs most games decently, I'm starting to struggle with some of the newer, more demanding titles, particularly MSFS2024, which is heavy on CPU usage and requires a lot of VRAM. I often get 'out of VRAM' messages in crowded areas and experience significant stuttering during landings. I recently upgraded from 16GB of RAM, and it helped a bit. I'm hesitant to make a complete switch to AM5, especially since I just upgraded my RAM. Is it worth investing in a 5700X3D (CAD$389) or a 5800X3D (CAD$529) to keep my PC running for another couple of years? Also, what GPU upgrade would provide at least 16GB of VRAM while still supporting 1080p gaming? My PSU is 850W, and I have liquid cooling for my CPU. Thanks!

Honestly, the prices they're asking for those AM4 X3D chips seem a bit steep. I have a similar setup and feel like some games definitely push the CPU limits, but I'm considering waiting for AM6 or hunting for a good AM5 deal instead.

It really depends on your gaming resolution. If you're sticking with 1080p, just upgrading your GPU makes more sense. If you're playing titles that are really CPU heavy, only then might consider AM5 in the future.

Just to clarify, I'm at 1080p.

I wouldn't rush to upgrade to AM5 just yet. Your biggest bottleneck is definitely that 8GB of VRAM. I suggest you look into a new video card first before making any CPU moves.
