I recently built a PC for my wife and me to enjoy some co-op games together. Initially, she was only playing Stardew Valley, but we've now moved on to Baldur's Gate, and I've noticed that my power supply unit (PSU) is making quite a noise. Additionally, my CPU is maxing out at 100% utilization while we play. I'm wondering if switching to a different processor would help reduce the fan noise and the occasional lag we're experiencing. I left the graphics settings at their defaults, which set them to ultra. My current setup features a 9060 XT GPU, 16GB of RAM, and an X870 motherboard. Would an upgrade be beneficial?

It doesn’t sound like you need to upgrade your 9900X. If it's consistently at 100% utilization while playing Baldur's Gate, there might be an issue with your system setup rather than the CPU itself. This processor is pretty capable for gaming, so I’d look for other culprits first.
I’d need to know which CPU you’re using right now, but when it comes to gaming, the x3D processors genuinely outperform the 9900X in most cases, especially at 1080p. Trying something like the 7600X3D or 7800X3D could yield better results.

I have the 9900X. Do you think going for a 9800X3D would be a good idea, considering I want to avoid future upgrades?
