How Well Does the Ryzen 7 7800X3D’s Integrated Graphics Perform?

I'm almost done with my new PC build, just waiting on a GPU and an SSD. I can get the SSD soon, but I'll need some time to save up for the GPU I want—a Sapphire PULSE RX 9070 XT. I was planning on giving my current PC to my friend, and he's even helping me out financially to make this happen, but I want to hook him up as soon as I can. My main question is about the capabilities of the Ryzen 7 7800X3D's integrated graphics. I probably won't be buying the GPU for at least the next six weeks, and I'm wondering what I can do with the integrated graphics in the meantime. I don't plan to play anything super demanding like DOOM: TDA or RE:9 until I get my GPU, but can it handle games like R.E.P.O or Dead by Daylight? Or will it just be enough for basic things like OS setup and installing apps? Since my current build has an RTX 4060, I'd rather not mess around with installing and uninstalling its drivers. I know I might be overthinking it, but I just need to get my old setup to my friend soon and I'm feeling a little impatient.

Honestly, you're looking at some base performance here. It’s comparable to some of the lower-end dedicated cards, like the GT 1030. In fact, the integrated graphics might only offer around 1/8th the performance of a Radeon RX 6500 XT, which isn’t great. If you can, I’d just temporarily use the RTX 4060. It’ll save you the hassle of dealing with driver swaps later on. Plus, it’s only a matter of weeks!

If you're playing basic games or just set up an OS, the integrated graphics will do fine. But when it comes to gaming, you might want to keep it to 720p low settings to get playable FPS. Just a thought! If the wait for your GPU is long, consider adding the 4060 for peace of mind while you wait.

I get that you're itching to get your new build running, but if you're seriously looking at waiting over a month, it might be worth your time to just install the 4060 for a little while. The integrated graphics are usable, but the experience will be pretty lackluster compared to what you're used to.

I see your point! I guess I was just focused on getting my friend set up with my old PC, but I can definitely wait.

All Ryzen 7000 series CPUs, including the 7800X3D, come with the same integrated graphics setup. It features 2 RDNA2 compute units and runs at about 2200 MHz with 128 shaders. If you want a ballpark for performance, benchmarks of similar CPUs can give you a good idea. Just keep in mind that it might struggle compared to dedicated GPUs.

The Ryzen 7800X3D's integrated graphics should handle both R.E.P.O and Dead by Daylight at low to medium settings. For a decent frame rate, consider playing at 1080p or even lower if necessary. Just keep your expectations in check—it won't be a high-fidelity experience!
