I currently have an AM4 setup with an AMD Ryzen 3800X, 32GB of RAM, and a 2070 Super graphics card. I'm looking to upgrade my system, but I'm realizing that moving to AM5 is quite expensive right now. The Ryzen 5 5800X3D and 5700X3D are hard to find and pricey. If I go for a 5800XT and a 5070 GPU within my current AM4 setup, will I see significant performance gains, or is it not worth it? Should I just go straight to an AM5 setup? Thanks for any insights!

If you’re near a Microcenter in the U.S., I’d say go for both upgrades. Prices are on the rise for AM5 and new GPUs. If not, look into the 5800X—it'll be a noticeable upgrade for you.
Upgrading to the 5800XT and 5070 would truly be a solid leap forward! I'd recommend starting with the 5070 and seeing the performance boost that brings. You’ll definitely enjoy solid improvements without needing to dive into a whole new setup yet.
But won't the 3800X bottleneck the 5070? Or am I mistaken?
While the 5800X3D is a better upgrade, if you're not into CPU-heavy games, focusing on the GPU first makes more sense!
Sticking with AM4 and going for the 5800XT sounds ideal. But if you’re considering a full rebuild, look into LGA1700 with a Core i7; it'll outperform any non-X3D AM4 processor without the steep DDR5 costs.
I thought about that too, but I’m not a fan of Intel!
I had a similar switch from a 2070 to a 5800X and 5070 setup, and let me tell you, it was a game changer! I can hit 120+ FPS on high or ultra settings at 3440x1440p. I personally wouldn't bother with AM5 for now; stick with AM4 for an incredible upgrade experience.
I went from a 2700 and a 2070 Super to a 5700X3D and a 5070. The performance boost was insane—Borderlands 3 jumped from 50 FPS to the 90s! I think you'll be quite happy sticking with AM4 for now and just upgrading the GPU.

Too bad I’m in the Netherlands; everything is pricier here. A 5070 costs around 650 euros!
