I'm focusing solely on playing Valorant and I'm wondering if upgrading my CPU would help with my FPS issues. Here's my current setup:
- Motherboard: B450-F Gaming II
- CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X
- RAM: 16GB Vengeance Pro
- GPU: RTX 3070
Right now, I get about 180 FPS at 1080p. Would upgrading to either a Ryzen 5 5600 or 5600X help me reach a minimum of 240 FPS in any situation within the game? Keep in mind I'm working with a tight budget. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Honestly, I wouldn’t stress too much over the difference between 180 and 240 FPS; that’s pretty minimal for many players. A 5600X will definitely perform better in Valorant, but if you're looking outside of it, your current 3700X is comparable to the 5600X in many scenarios.
The Ryzen 5000 series offers a significant performance boost over the 3000 series, so go for the highest model you can afford that's labeled with "X" or "XT" like the 5600X, 5700X, or 5800X too!
I don’t get why some people have FPS issues when I’m running a basic Lenovo i5-9500T with 32GB RAM and a 3050, and I still see around 120 FPS in every esports game. Having 32GB of RAM helps with stability, especially if you multitask with apps like Discord and Chrome open.
Yes, an upgrade could really help, especially if you're seeing low GPU usage while playing. That often indicates a CPU bottleneck, and since Valorant is quite CPU-heavy, a Ryzen 5 5600 or 5600X would significantly improve your performance. Make sure to enable XMP for your RAM, and aim for at least 3200MHz or 3600MHz speeds with 2 or 4 sticks for optimal setup.
Thanks so much for your quick and helpful answer!

Thanks a lot for that advice!
