Should I Upgrade My CPU, Motherboard, or GPU First?

I've been using my PC for about three years now with the following specs: a 1660 Super GPU, an i3-10105 CPU, and 32GB of RAM. It has handled the games I played quite well, but I'm starting to hit performance issues with newer games that demand more from the CPU, which is frequently maxed out at 100%. The problem is, my motherboard only supports 10th and 11th gen Intel CPUs. I could potentially upgrade to an i5, but higher-end i7s and i9s are appealing yet pricier. I'm also worried about my 1660 Super bottlenecking performance if I make a big CPU upgrade. I can only afford to replace one component right now and wanted to ask what should be my priority: the CPU, motherboard, or GPU? Or should I save up altogether for a new system?

If you're on a budget and focus on games like CS:GO or Dota 2, I’d recommend upgrading to a new CPU and motherboard. Something like an i3-13400F should be fairly priced and still let you keep using your existing RAM.

I sometimes do 3D modeling too. Could that affect performance? I'd like to know if I should focus on CPU upgrades for that.

Generally speaking, a GPU upgrade often gives the best value. But your i3 is holding you back, so I'd suggest looking for a used i5 first. That way, you can save up for an eventual GPU upgrade. It might handle something like a 3080 pretty well, especially if you want to avoid bottlenecking.

Would a 10th gen i5 be enough to avoid bottlenecks with my 1660 Super until I can afford a better GPU?

If you want a new CPU, consider getting a new motherboard too. You might find a good deal if you wait for sales. GPUs are expected to increase in price soon, so now might be the time to shop.
For example, I’ve seen deals on CPUs and motherboards at local retailers.

That's useful info! I might look for a used CPU while watching for motherboard sales.

If you're playing at 1080p, aim for the best CPU you can afford. The 14th generation Intel chips perform better than the 11th gen. However, switching to AM5 is tough with current RAM prices. I think you'll need a motherboard that supports newer CPUs for a real upgrade.

I play at 1080p too, and I got lucky with some DDR4 before it spiked in price. Is it better to focus on getting a motherboard that supports new CPUs?

And what do you think about which 14th gen CPU would be best?
