Should I Upgrade My CPU or Get a New Monitor and GPU?

I'm currently using a Ryzen 5700X with a 16GB 5060 Ti, which I just bought a few days ago. I'm running into CPU bottlenecking at 1080p in various games. I'm considering either upgrading to a 9800X3D bundle or returning my current GPU to invest in a 5070 Ti along with a higher resolution monitor. What do you think would be the best choice overall? Any insights would be much appreciated!

If you can transition away from AM4 without breaking the bank on RAM, I'd go for it. I think the 5060 Ti is still a sturdy card for 1440p gaming. Unless there's a killer deal on the 9800, aiming for a 7800X3D might be a better route to take; the upgrade isn’t significant enough to justify the higher price sometimes.

A CPU bottleneck will still be an issue at 1440p, but it’s less noticeable at 4K since your GPU is likely to struggle more. From my experience, a 5800X3D with a 5080 still runs into limits at 1440p, especially if games are demanding or if you’re upscaling. So it might not fix everything if you go for that resolution and keep your current CPU.

I'd opt for an AM5 upgrade if performance is your goal; it’ll allow for smooth 1440p gaming. Plus, with how many great monitors are out there now, future-proofing your setup is a smart move!

Definitely consider running at 4K with DLSS as a performance booster. It makes a huge difference!

If you're hitting a CPU bottleneck, better to just upgrade the CPU instead of compounding the problem. If you can swing it, getting the 5070 Ti along with a nice 1440p monitor and upgrading the CPU would be a solid choice. It seems like a no-brainer, really!

Honestly, you don’t absolutely need the 9800X3D. What games are you playing? A 9700X or even a 7700X could save you some money. The 5700X isn’t the best for pairing with a 5070 Ti, especially if you want to leverage features like DLSS at 4K. I suggest going with an AM5 setup and a decent monitor to get a more balanced system overall.
