I've got an AMD Ryzen 5800X paired with a 3070 Ti, and I'm using an H510 compact ATX case. Lately, I've noticed that my CPU temperature spikes to around 90 degrees when gaming. Should I consider upgrading my CPU, or would better cooling solutions be enough?

What version of the H510 case do you have? The one with a mesh front or the solid front? It's worth mentioning that if you're hitting those temperatures with a 5800X, upgrading the CPU won't help much; it might just run hotter. A better cooling solution could really help here.
Before jumping to a CPU upgrade, have you checked the thermal paste on your CPU? Sometimes reapplying it can make a big difference in cooling efficiency. Also, is this high temperature a recent issue for you?
Yeah, I'm going to give repasting the thermal paste a shot. I've only recently noticed the high temps with some newer games.
You don't necessarily need to upgrade your CPU just yet. The 5800X is known to run hot, so reaching around 90°C is somewhat normal. You can implement some cooling improvements: Try enabling ECO Mode or using a negative Curve Optimizer in your BIOS to lower temps by 5-15°C. Checking your thermal paste and airflow can help a ton too. Your H510 case can be restrictive, so adding more fans or switching to a mesh case could make a significant difference. If you want better cooling, consider upgrading your cooler as well. Only consider a CPU upgrade if you're looking for more FPS in games, maybe to the 5800X3D.
I have the solid front version, and it came with three fans (one in the front, one on top, and one in the back). My temps sit at about 53 degrees when idle, but go up to 64-66 degrees while browsing.
