Should I Upgrade My CPU or Replace Both the CPU and Motherboard?

I'm thinking about playing Nioh 3, but it seems like I might be running into some issues that could be CPU-related. My setup includes an Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING motherboard, an Intel i7-8700k processor, an RTX 3070 Ti graphics card, and 32GB of RAM. Given the limited upgrade options for my current motherboard, I'm wondering if I should just swap out the CPU or if it would be a better idea to upgrade the motherboard along with the CPU. What do you all think?

Upgrading just the CPU won't be effective since your motherboard doesn't support many options anymore. I suggest going for a 13th or 14th gen Intel chip with a compatible DDR4 motherboard, or consider switching to an AMD Ryzen 5000 series with a B550 motherboard for better future upgradability.

If I get a B550 motherboard that lets me use my current RAM, would the Ryzen 5800X be a solid choice? It seems to be around the same price point as the i9-9900. Any advantages to one over the other?
