Should I Upgrade My CPU or Switch to AM5?

Hey everyone! I could really use your advice on my current setup. I'm using an AM4 system with a 7800 XT graphics card, Ryzen 5600 CPU, and an MSI B550M motherboard, paired with a 1440P monitor and a 650W PSU. While I typically get over 60fps at 2K ultra settings in most games, I've noticed some stuttering and FPS drops in CPU-intensive games like Darktide, Space Marines 2, and Helldivers. I'm considering whether I should upgrade my CPU to a 5700X, 5800X, or even a 5800XT, especially since the 5700X3D is a bit pricey in Brazil. Alternatively, the new AM5 7600 is cheaper than the X3D chip. Is there a CPU upgrade that makes sense within the AM4 platform, or is it better to move to AM5? Any thoughts?

Have you tried lowering your settings a bit? Sometimes going from Ultra to High or even Medium can significantly smooth out the gameplay without compromising much of the visual experience.

Yeah, it seems like you’d need the X3D for a noticeable upgrade. If you're sticking with AM4, I wouldn't expect dramatic improvements based on what others are saying.

Also, check your CPU usage while gaming! It might help you understand if it’s the CPU that’s bottlenecking your frames. Using tools like RIVA Tuner can really help with capping FPS which smooths things out. I capped mine and my 1% lows improved a ton!

Honestly, if you're thinking about gaming performance, going for anything other than the X3D isn’t going to give you a huge boost. The additional cores won't necessarily help in games that are already CPU-heavy.

If you stick with AM4, you might not see much difference unless it’s the X3D. But switching to the 7600 could really change your gaming experience, just remember you’ll need a new motherboard and RAM for that upgrade.
