I'm pondering whether to upgrade my gaming rig or not. I currently have an 850W PSU, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, a B550 motherboard, a Ryzen 7 5700X, and a 9060XT graphics card. I'm considering two options: the first is to switch to AM5, which would mean getting a new motherboard and DDR5 RAM. However, prices for RAM are pretty steep right now, and the whole upgrade could set me back around $600 to $700. The alternative would be to get a better GPU, like a 9070 or a 5070, and keep my current AM4 setup, which would save me about $300. I worry I might hit a CPU bottleneck down the line, but I'm tempted by the savings. I mainly play single-player story games like Red Dead Redemption and Cyberpunk 2077, and I'm looking for smoother gameplay and better visuals. What do you think I should do?

Before you make a decision, think about your gaming habits. If those single-player games are your jam, sticking with AM4 but upgrading the GPU seems like the better bet. You could always look at AM5 down the road when prices are better and then have a more balanced system. For now, the GPU will likely give you the best bang for your buck.
Have you thought about what kind of performance boost you're hoping for? If it's mainly for visuals in games like Cyberpunk, that new GPU will give you way better frame rates and graphics right now compared to waiting for AM5 and DDR5 to come down in price. Just be aware of the CPU bottleneck if you’re going for something super powerful!
I get that! I'd just love to play those games with better graphics. It's all about that smooth experience.
Honestly, your current setup is pretty solid. If you’re mainly playing story-driven games, I’d suggest going for the new GPU. You’ll notice a more immediate improvement in your graphics and performance. The savings are also a big plus, so upgrading makes more sense unless you really need the extra future-proofing from an AM5 setup. A 9070 or 5070 would make a big difference!
Yeah, I agree! Your games will definitely benefit more from a decent GPU upgrade instead of a drastic CPU change right now.

Exactly! Plus, you’ll save money to upgrade later. Sounds like a win-win!
