I'm currently running a Ryzen 5 2600 and a GTX 1070, and I just got a new FE 5070. I'm considering whether I should upgrade my CPU to a 5800XT or 5800X3D to stay on the AM4 platform for now. Would either of these CPUs be good enough to keep up with the 5070? I could also add another 16GB of DDR4 to bring my total to 32GB, but I'm worried about potential bottlenecking. I'm not looking to replace my motherboard, RAM, or CPU entirely unless absolutely necessary. What do you all think?

Upgrading to a 5800X3D or 5700X3D would definitely be a solid choice for your setup. Both of those CPUs pair well with the 5070, especially if you're playing at 4K and prioritizing visuals over frame rates.
A lot of folks suggest switching to AM5 for better future-proofing. But if you stick with AM4, you'll save some cash—around $250—by going with the 5800XT, and it’s still a great CPU. Plus, you could use that extra money to grab some more RAM. Just keep in mind your motherboard; it might need a BIOS update to support the newer CPUs. What's your current motherboard?
