Should I Upgrade My Current PC or Buy a New One?

I'm trying to decide whether I should upgrade my existing PC or just go for a new build altogether. I bought my PC back in 2020, and here are the specs:

- Motherboard: Asus Prime A320M
- CPU: Ryzen 5 2600
- RAM: 8GB DDR4
- GPU: 1050TI 4GB DDR5

I primarily use my PC for work tasks like emailing and making presentations, but I also dabble in gaming with stuff like Factorio and Stardew Valley. I'm thinking about getting into heavier games, especially FPS games, so I want some advice on the best route to take. Should I upgrade specific parts, or is it better to start fresh?

Just a heads-up, you’ll need to replace your CPU, GPU, and RAM if you're looking for a significant upgrade. Don’t forget to check your power supply too, especially if it’s only 550W. If you have a decent budget, going all-in might be the way to go!

Thanks for the heads-up! I didn't realize the PSU could be an issue. I'll have to check that out.

If you're looking to boost your performance without breaking the bank, you should definitely consider upgrading to either a Ryzen 5 5600 or 5700 based on your budget. You'd really feel the difference in speed. Also, I recommend getting 2 sticks of 16GB DDR4 3600 RAM since 8GB is a bit low for gaming these days. If your 1050 still runs okay, you might keep it for now, but if it struggles, check for a used 3060 or 3070 to really amp up your gaming experience. Trust me, it’ll feel like a brand new machine!
