I'm planning to buy a 27" monitor for more screen real estate and I'm considering two options: a 27" 180Hz 2560x1440 monitor and a 27" 160Hz 1920x1080, both priced similarly. My main concerns are whether a 1080p display looks pixelated on a 27" screen due to lower pixel density, and if my RX 580 8GB can handle older AAA games smoothly at 2K resolution. Light gaming is my style, primarily racing sims like Assetto Corsa. If my GPU isn't up to the task, I'd consider upgrading to a GTX 1080 or RTX 3050, but the current GPU prices in my country are a bit crazy. I want to prioritize the monitor as it's what I need the most, but finding a cheaper GPU, especially from the USA, adds another $200 to the cost.

I've got a 27" 1080p monitor, and honestly, it doesn't look pixelated at all. That size is about the limit before you start noticing any pixelation. The image is still sharp and clear!
I upgraded my GPU because of my monitor too! I initially had a 3050 and ended up getting a 7900xt because of a good sale. It really made a difference in graphics quality! If you're considering options, maybe look into the Intel B580 or a 6600xt if you can find them at a good price.
If you're thinking about moving to 1440p, just know that your current FPS at 1080p will likely drop by about 25-40%. Still, I say go for the 27" 1440p monitor! Worst case, you can lower the settings in your games until you get a better GPU.
I had an AMD 6700xt but switched to a 1440p 240Hz monitor. It made my old GPU struggle, so I had to upgrade to a 9070xt for smoother gameplay. Now I can actually use higher settings! Just a heads up—1440p can really drop your FPS compared to 1080p, but the visual quality is worth it!
Can I drop the resolution to 1080p in the game? Will it still look good like a normal 1080p display? If that's the case, I'm definitely getting the 1440p one!
