Should I Upgrade My GPU or CPU for Better Performance in Open World Games?

I'm looking to improve my FPS at 1440p, especially in open world games like RPGs and MMORPGs. Should I prioritize upgrading my GPU from a 1080Ti to a 9070XT, or should I upgrade my CPU from a 3600X? I want to make the best choice to maximize my gaming experience. Thanks for any advice!

It looks like you might have to upgrade both eventually, but if you have to pick one, go for the GPU first. The 9070XT will give you a big performance boost, especially in graphics-heavy games. Just keep in mind that your CPU might hold it back in some cases, especially in CPU-intensive games.

Honestly, you're looking at a bit of a bottleneck problem here. Upgrading just one component might not give you the results you're hoping for. Many folks recommend upgrading your GPU first, since that tends to give a more noticeable FPS boost in most scenarios. But down the line, you'll want to upgrade your CPU too.

Upgrading to a 9070XT over the 1080Ti is definitely a smart move for a significant FPS increase. A lot of people in the discussion mentioned that it’s often more beneficial to upgrade the GPU first, especially since CPUs tend to last longer. Just plan for a CPU upgrade later on, especially since open world games can be pretty demanding on the processor.

I can second that! When I upgraded from a 3080 to a 9070XT, I noticed a big performance jump. It's good to aim for the graphics card first, then figure out the CPU later.

Agreed! Focusing on the GPU first is the way to go. You’ll definitely feel the difference in your gaming performance.
