Should I upgrade my GTX 1070 to an RTX 5050 for 1080p gaming?

I'm currently gaming at 1080p and don't plan on upgrading to a higher resolution for a couple of years. I have an i7-6700K CPU with 16GB of DDR4 RAM, but I'm worried my GTX 1070 might be on its last legs. Does it make sense to replace it with an RTX 5050?

Honestly, switching to the RTX 5050 isn’t the best idea. It has limitations with lanes and bus width, especially on older PCIe slots. If you're looking for better performance, a used 2080 Ti might be a smarter choice.

If you're looking for alternatives, a non-TI 2080 is also available at a lower price and might match the 5050's performance. Just make sure it's in good condition, given that it's an older card.

I think the RTX 5060 would be a better option for you. Plus, the i7-6700K is starting to feel a bit slow these days. If you're considering upgrading, you might want to go for a 9700K and maybe overclock it to keep pace with the 5060!
