I'm looking to upgrade my kids' monitors from 1080p at 60fps to something with a higher refresh rate, ideally 120Hz or above. Their current setup includes a Ryzen 3600x with a 4060ti and an i5 13400F with an RX 6700 XT. I care more about frame rates, so if 1440p would put too much strain on the hardware, I'd prefer to stick with 1080p. We mainly play games like Grounded, Overwatch, BeamNG Drive, and Fortnite. What do you recommend?

If you're prioritizing frame rates, switching to 1440p might reduce performance by around 25%. Both the 4060Ti and 6700XT are solid but mid-range GPUs, so 1080p might be the safer bet.
Have you asked your kids what they prefer? It's a great opportunity to bond and get their input on the upgrade!
You should be able to run 1440p with those cards. You might want to use DLSS on the 4060ti, but a 144 Hz 1440p monitor isn't too pricey these days. Just look out for ghosting in reviews—using the UFO test in-store can help.
I run 1440p on my setup with a Ryzen 3600 and a 6750XT, and I highly recommend going for 1440p at a decent refresh rate of 165 or 180 Hz. IPS panels are great, just make sure to check reviews first.
I always suggest looking up monitors on rtings.com to find the best fit for your needs; they're super helpful with detailed reviews.
