Hey everyone, I need some advice on whether to upgrade my old computer or just buy a new one. I built this PC about 8 years ago and haven't made any upgrades since, so it's getting pretty outdated. I'm debating if I should invest in upgrading the components, considering this one has some issues, or if it's better to buy a completely new setup. Here are my current specs:
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
- 16 GB RAM
- Intel Core i5-7400 CPU at 3.00GHz.
If I go the upgrade route, what components would you suggest? Thanks for any guidance!

Honestly, I think it's time to buy a new PC. Your current setup is quite outdated, and you'd end up swapping most parts anyway, so it’s like starting fresh. If you do go for a new build, you might want to invest in a new GPU and CPU for a significant performance boost!
What about your motherboard and power supply? Knowing the specifics could help in deciding if you can upgrade effectively without buying new. I actually enjoy upgrading rather than starting over, so let's see what you can reuse!
My power supply is a Woden650 80 Plus Gold. And I’m not sure about the motherboard; I think it's a GA-B250M-DS3H, but I’d need to check for sure.
First off, do you know if your RAM is DDR4? That’s a crucial point. Also, what’s your budget looking like? If you have around 1,500€ to spend, you might have some good options for a decent upgrade or a mid-range new setup.
I’m not sure about the RAM, I haven't looked at the specs lately. I'm located in Romania, and yeah, 1,500€ is roughly what I'm thinking! I can stretch a bit more if needed.

Agree! Plus, if you have an old system, you often run into compatibility issues with new parts. Starting anew could save you from a lot of hassle.
