Should I Upgrade My PC Components or Just the RAM?

I'm looking to upgrade my PC, which I built about five years ago. I recently tried to upgrade the RAM but ran into issues—it was either faulty or my system just can't handle having four sticks. This experience has made me wonder if I should consider a more comprehensive upgrade instead of just trying to add more RAM again.

Here are my current specs:
* MSI B450 Tomahawk Max
* Corsair H100i Pro Liquid cooler
* Corsair Vengeance 16GB RAM (2x 8GB 3200MHz)
* Gigabyte GeForce 2070 Super
* AMD Ryzen 5 3600
* Samsung 860 EVO M.2 1TB
* Corsair CV650W Bronze

I'm considering upgrading to:
* AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
* Samsung 870 EVO 1TB internal SSD
* Additional Corsair Vengeance 16GB RAM (2x 8GB 3200MHz)

From what I've gathered, my motherboard should support the new CPU with a BIOS update, but I'm not entirely sure.

Do you think it's worth upgrading all these components for a general refresh, or should I just focus on the RAM and call it good?

Upgrading the CPU sounds like a great idea! The Ryzen 7 5700X will give you a noticeable performance boost, especially if you’re into gaming or heavy multitasking. As for the SSD, if you don't need more storage right now, you might want to wait. In terms of RAM, it’s a bit unclear—do you already have the additional sticks? That’ll help clarify if you should go all in on the RAM upgrade now or later. Also, just a tip: if you decide to upgrade the SSD, consider going for an NVMe PCIe M.2 instead of the 870 if it's just storage speed you're after. That’ll give you better performance!

Yeah, I just noticed that the SSD you mentioned is a SATA. Going for a faster NVMe drive would definitely help with loading times and overall performance if you're looking to maximize speed.
