Should I Upgrade My PC or Build a New One?

Hey everyone! I've got a PC that was built back in 2017/2018, and I'm starting to run into issues with newer games not wanting to load. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to just upgrade a few components, or if I should go all out and build a completely new rig. Ideally, I want to play most current PC games at medium settings. Here are the specs of my current setup: CPU is an Intel Core i3-7100 3.9 GHz Dual-Core, with an MSI B250M PRO-VD motherboard, 8 GB of Crucial Ballistix Sport LT RAM, a 256 GB NVMe SSD, a 1 TB HDD, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. I have it hooked up to my TV as I also use it for movies, so aesthetics aren't really a concern since I just tuck it away. What do you think would be the best route to take?

Honestly, I'd say just go for a new build. Upgrading your current setup might not give you the best bang for your buck because the price-to-performance ratio isn't great. You'll probably get better results with a fresh start.

If you're looking to save some parts, consider reusing your case. But you definitely need to upgrade everything else if you want to keep up with today's games. Your system is quite dated, especially that CPU.

You might want to keep the GTX 1080 Ti since it's still pretty solid for 1080p gaming. But yeah, your RAM situation is a problem— the single stick setup is really holding you back. I'd recommend upgrading to dual channel RAM and considering a full overhaul otherwise. What’s your budget looking like?

I’d like to keep it under $1000 CAD, though I know that might be tough with GPU prices. I'm planning to check deals during Prime Day.
