Should I Upgrade My PC or Buy New?

Hey everyone! I'm thinking about upgrading my PC, but I'm not sure if it's better to sell my current parts and get a new setup instead. Here's what I've got right now: a GTX 1080, Intel i7-8700k, 32GB DDR4 RAM at 3200hz, and a 1TB Internal SSD. I used to use liquid cooling, but it broke, so I'm just using a basic CPU fan at the moment. I know that if I want to boost my CPU, I'll need a new motherboard, and I'm definitely looking to upgrade my GPU. Any tips on how to handle this? I'm not the most tech-savvy person, haha!

Honestly, I'd recommend selling your entire PC and getting a new one, but maybe keep the SSD. It really depends on your goals, though. If you're focusing on gaming, an upgrade to your GPU is essential. If you eye a newer series like the RTX 50 series, you’ll also need a compatible CPU and motherboard to avoid bottlenecking performance.

What’s your budget looking like? If you want a quick upgrade, consider selling the GTX 1080 and grabbing a 3060ti or 3080. This should cost around $300. However, if you can stretch your budget to $1,000, you could sell your current setup for about $400 and buy a used system or parts from places like hardware swap. Look for older CPUs like the 12900k or Ryzen 5000/7000 series paired with at least a 3080 for solid performance.
