Should I Upgrade My PC or Just Replace the Motherboard?

I'm facing a bit of a dilemma with my PC setup. My motherboard appears to have shorted out, and I'm seeking some advice on whether to buy a complete motherboard and CPU combo that has room for future upgrades or if I should just get a new motherboard right now. My current setup includes an Intel i7-9700k, an RTX 2080, and 32GB of RAM (4x 8GB sticks). It's been about 5 years since I last looked into PC components, so I'm out of the loop on the current market. I have a budget of around $500. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

With a budget of $500, you could definitely grab an AM5 motherboard along with a decent AMD CPU and some DDR5 RAM. Going this route would set you up nicely for the future, especially if you’re looking to upgrade down the line.

What kind of future upgradability does an AM5 setup offer? I haven't been keeping up with AMD, as I'm more familiar with Intel.
