Hey everyone! I could really use your advice on whether I should stick with upgrading my current PC or just build an entirely new one. My rig is starting to struggle with games, even older titles are giving me trouble. Right now, I have to lower settings significantly to get playable performance in games like Fortnite — I'm running DLSS Ultra Performance just to keep decent FPS. I game on a 1440p ultrawide 165Hz monitor, so it's frustrating.
Here are my current specs:
- **Motherboard**: ASUS ROG Strix Z390-F GAMING
- **Case**: NZXT H500
- **GPU**: GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB DUAL OC
- **PSU**: Corsair RM850x V2, 850W
- **CPU**: Intel Core i7-9700K
- **RAM**: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB 3200MHz
- **Monitor**: Huawei MateView GT 34" Ultrawide, 3440x1440 @ 165Hz
- **Storage**: Samsung 990 Pro 2TB NVMe.
I live in Sweden and my budget is about 20,000 SEK (around $1,900 USD). I'm okay with shopping on the used market as long as the parts are reliable. My main goal is to enjoy smooth gaming at 60+ FPS with high settings for current and upcoming games. With Battlefield 6 coming out, I want to be able to run it well on my monitor.
So, is it worth upgrading my current setup considering I might need a new CPU, motherboard, RAM, and GPU? Or should I just build a brand new system and keep my monitor, storage, and maybe the PSU for now? Thanks in advance for any tips or build suggestions!

Your current system's definitely old but it's still got some potential! The 2080 Ti can be reused in a new build if you go for newer CPU and motherboard, especially for Fortnite. You might look at spending around $800 to upgrade to something like a Ryzen 5 9600X paired with a solid B650 motherboard and 32GB of DDR5 RAM at 6000MHz. That should give you a nice boost!
Thanks for the feedback! I was thinking about swapping out my CPU, motherboard, and RAM for an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D with 32GB DDR5 RAM and an ASRock B650 board. I plan to keep my GPU a bit longer since it's still decent, even though it's running hot at times.
