Hey everyone! I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade my current PC setup or go for a new AM5 build. Right now, I have a 144Hz 1080p monitor, which works great for me. I'm looking to boost my FPS in games while staying at 1080p. Here are my specs:
- Ryzen 5 3600 with stock cooler
- 16GB DDR4 CL16 3200 RAM (2x8GB ADATA XPG)
- 1TB Gen 4 SSD
- B450 TUF Gaming Plus motherboard
- 750W Gold 80+ MSI power supply
- MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Ventus 3X GPU
I've considered these options:
1. Upgrade to a Ryzen 7 5700X for around 150 euros.
2. Upgrade to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D for about 300 euros.
3. Build a new AM5 PC but keep the 3070, which would cost quite a bit.
4. A friend is offering me two additional sticks of 8GB CL16 3600 RAM for 60 euros. Thoughts?

Honestly, I think going for a new PC is the better route overall. If you can, I'd suggest upgrading your monitor to 1440p with higher refresh rates before worrying about your PC upgrades! And I'd skip on adding more RAM; mixing different RAM kits can lead to stability issues, so it might not be worth the risk.
I appreciate the feedback, but I'm pretty happy with my current monitor as I mentioned. Thanks for the input!
Upgrading to the 5700X should be enough for around 90% of the games out there. It should keep your system performing well for the next couple of years at least!
So, you're saying going with the 5700X is a better choice than the 5700X3D based on the price?

So you're suggesting I just spend more on a monitor instead of upgrading my PC? Seems a bit off.
