Hey everyone! I've got a portable SSD that uses a USB 3.0 connector (you know, the classic blue one). My new workstation only has USB-C ports. I'm wondering if there's any downside to using a small USB-A to USB-C adapter to connect my SSD. Should I consider switching to a different setup instead? Thanks! - dave

As long as every component in your setup supports USB 3, you should be good. But why not just use a regular USB A to USB C cable? Many people have those cables lying around, and they usually cost less than an adapter.
If your adapter is USB 3.0 compliant, you should have no issues at all. It’s important to know that USB 3.0 and USB-C refer to different things: USB 3.0 is about data transfer speeds, while USB-C is just a type of connector. They're not inherently linked, so don’t stress too much about using an adapter as long as it’s the right standard!

Good point! I actually got a portable hard drive that can only use USB-A. I thought the adapter would be the quickest fix since I have a couple of them handy.
