Hey everyone! I've recently gotten some components for free, including a Gigabyte P1200W power supply. I'm considering upgrading my PC from a Ryzen 5 3600X and a 1660 SUPER GPU to a new setup. I'm thinking about going with a Ryzen 5 7500X, a Palit 5070 Infinity 3 GPU, and 64GB of RAM that I also got for free. I'm also looking at motherboards like the MSI B850 GAMING PLUS WIFI or the cheaper MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI. My main dilemma is whether I should upgrade my PSU to utilize its stock 12-pin cable for the new GPU, or if it's safe to use the adapter that comes with the GPU. The P1200W seems pretty solid, but I'm also considering an RX 9070 XT, which needs two 8-pin connections and costs about the same as the 5070 plus a new PSU with the adapter. I want to make sure that whatever option I choose won't lead to any issues, especially since I plan to game in 1080p with some newer titles.

Using the adapter is perfectly fine as long as you connect the two 8-pin cables separately into the adapter rather than using one single cable with dual connectors. Plus, the performance of the 9070 XT is pretty comparable to the 5070 TI, and often even outperforms it in many games. If you can afford it, the 9070 XT is definitely worth considering!
I'd definitely go for the RX 9070 XT! It's a lot better performance-wise compared to the 5070, and your 1200W PSU is more than adequate for this upgrade. You've got nothing to worry about if you stick with that PSU.
That's true, but in my country the 9070 XT costs about $900 while the 5070 is only $750. Might be tight on budget.
Just use the adapter that comes with the GPU. It's a simple and effective solution for your setup without needing to change your PSU.
I was leaning towards that, especially since it could save me some cash. Appreciate your input!
Performance isn't my main concern right now; I just want to ensure that using the adapter is reliable. If it's cool, I'm fine sticking with the cheaper GPU option.
