Should I Upgrade My PSU to 850W for My Current Setup?

I'm considering upgrading my power supply to an 850W unit, specifically the Thermaltake GT850, which I found sealed for a great price. My current setup includes an R5 5600X processor and an RTX 3070 graphics card. Is this upgrade necessary, or would it be overkill given my current components?

If your current PSU is functioning well, there's no real need to swap it out. However, I've heard some concerns about VS series PSUs being less reliable. Maybe look into that if you're uneasy?

I've been told my VS series PSU is bad since it's 100W below what they recommend for the 3070. Should I be worried?

That's probably overkill. You could optimize what you have to draw less power, and you might be better off spending that cash on something like RAM or other upgrades instead.

Unless you're planning to upgrade your CPU or GPU soon, there’s really no need to change your PSU. Your current setup should be just fine with the power it's getting now.
