I just got a pre-built 9800x3D / 5090 with DDR5 2x16 6000 CL30 RAM already installed. I have some spare DDR5 2x32 4800 RAM from my old setup. When I asked the builder if I should just use my 64GB instead of the 6000, he said the 6000 would be better. I'm not super knowledgeable about RAM; does that sound correct? Should I keep the 64GB in my old rig or swap it in?

It really depends on your usage! If you’re doing heavy gaming or using a lot of mods (like for RDR2 or Skyrim), the speed from the 6000 MHz might be more beneficial, but if you often exceed 32GB of RAM usage, then the 64GB would be the way to go. AMD recommends the faster RAM for gaming, but capacity also matters.
Yeah, the builder's spot on! The 6000 MHz is definitely faster than the 4800 MHz, which can improve performance. Unless you're hitting that 32GB limit during intense tasks, I’d stick with the faster RAM for better overall performance.
