I've got a Ryzen 9600X running on an ASRock Pro RS B650M mATX motherboard, and I'm having some overheating issues. My temperatures regularly hit 85°C while doing light video editing and gaming, and even when idle, they can be around 59°C. I've switched from a tower cooler to an NZXT Kraken AIO cooler and used Ryzen Master's Curve Optimizer, which helped initially, but the temps are still higher than I'd like. I was offered a refund for the CPU, and I'm looking for suggestions on a different AM5 CPU, preferably from the 9000 series, that can run newer games at high settings or older games on ultra. My total PC build costs so far add up significantly and I'd like to find a balance between performance and heat management.

Honestly, 85°C isn't too bad for an AM5 chip. As long as you're not exceeding 95°C, you're in a safe zone. However, if you're experiencing lag when the CPU gets hot, there could be a cooling issue at play. If you plan to upgrade, the Ryzen 7800X3D is known for being more efficient and may give you better performance, though it might cost a bit more. Just be mindful that any '9s' in the lineup will generally run hot.
I’ve heard mixed things about the 7800X3D. Some say it’s great for gaming, but does that mean it's worth the extra bucks over the 9600X?
