Should I Upgrade to 64GB of RAM for Gaming?

I'm building a new machine and have already installed 32GB of RAM (2 x 16GB at 6000MT/s CL30). I'm considering getting another kit to upgrade to 64GB for about $300 CAD. I'm pairing this with a 9800X3D and a 5080 GPU, and I mainly play games at 1440P. A friend suggested that 64GB is unnecessary, but it's been five years since my last build and I'm wondering if Windows 11 or modern games require more RAM. Is it worth the upgrade?

Upgrading to 64GB might not be worth it, especially considering RAM prices these days. Most gaming setups perform just fine with 32GB. Additionally, running four sticks of DDR5 can sometimes lead to instability at high speeds, which makes it a riskier choice. Better to save your money for other upgrades or games!
