I'm considering an upgrade from my Ryzen 3600, but with the recent rise in RAM prices, I'm not sure if I should switch to DDR5 or stick with my current setup which uses DDR4. I mainly use my PC for gaming and light office work, so it doesn't see heavy workloads like rendering. Currently, I have some 3200CL16 RAM. Is going for a 14600K worth it, or should I just look at upgrading to a better AMD CPU?

Sticking with your AM4 setup might be the best route. You could upgrade to a 5800X or 5700X, which would still give you a performance boost without the hassle of switching to a whole new platform. Since you’re mostly gaming and doing light work, that level of upgrade should serve you well for a while.
Exactly! Waiting for the market to stabilize before going for DDR5 seems smart.
Honestly, I would avoid buying DDR5 right now—prices are insane, and unless you need that extra performance boost for specific applications, sticking with DDR4 is a smart move. Upgrading to something like a 5800X or even the X3D versions could work well while you wait for RAM prices to come down.
Exactly! DDR5 might offer more speed, but at what cost? The price-to-performance ratio isn’t worth it for most gamers.
Plus, you won't have to change your motherboard if you stick with AM4.
If you're focused on gaming, you might find that a 5700X3D provides a noticeable improvement without needing to change your RAM. It's often reported that DDR4 is still very capable for most gaming tasks, so I wouldn't rush into DDR5 until the prices drop.
Right? The performance difference might not justify the cost of new RAM now.
Definitely something to consider! I’ll check benchmarks on both options.

I agree! Plus, those CPUs can often be found at reasonable prices, especially second-hand.
