Should I upgrade to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D with an RTX 5070, or pair my 5800X with an RTX 5070 Ti?

It depends on the games you play. For CPU-heavy competitive or simulation games, the 5800X3D could help with minimum FPS. For modern AAA games using high settings, the 5070 Ti is the better long-term choice, especially because its 16GB of VRAM gives more headroom than the 5070’s 12GB. You can always replace the CPU platform later, but upgrading the GPU now is more difficult to undo within your budget.

The 5800X3D is a good gaming chip, but upgrading from the regular 5800X usually gives a much smaller improvement than people expect—often more noticeable in frame-time consistency than average FPS. With a major GPU upgrade, I’d prioritize the 5070 Ti and avoid worrying too much about a CPU bottleneck at 1440p.

If your current power supply is decent and has enough capacity, you may not need to replace it immediately.
