I'm considering an upgrade for my gaming setup and am stuck between a few options. Currently, I have a setup with a Corsair 5000X case, MSI PRO Z690-A motherboard, NVIDIA RTX 3070 TI, and an Intel Core i5 12400F with a Corsair Titan 360 AIO cooler. I also have 16GB of Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 RAM and a Corsair RM1200X Shift PSU. My thoughts are to either stick with Intel and upgrade to a 14700K or 14900K, which would cost me around $300 to $450, or switch over to AMD's Ryzen 7 9800X3D, but that would set me back about $1200 due to needing a new motherboard and RAM. I've heard that while gaming performance may be better with Ryzen, it's a lot pricier. Do you think I would notice a significant improvement over my current i5 with a DDR4 and Z690 chipset? I am aware there have been some issues with the 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs, but it seems they have mostly been addressed with recent BIOS updates. Any advice would be great!

I wouldn't recommend the 14700K or 14900K right now; I've seen reports of those CPUs having some stability issues that are still getting worked out. If you want a riskier Intel path, maybe look at the 13600K, as it's been more stable. Just make sure you check benchmarks to see if the performance increase is worth the investment.
If you're looking at around $1200 for the AMD setup, that's pretty heavy! I did a parts check and found a potential build for the 9800X3D that comes to about $843, including a decent cooler and motherboard. You might want to look at the MSI MAG B850 Tomahawk MAX for a solid option. Just keep in mind that the price does increase if you go for higher-end components. It sounds like that extra performance might come at a hefty price unless you can find good deals!

I get that the price can spike with higher-end options. Just remember, if you decide on AMD, you might have to adjust to a different socket and DDR5 RAM, which could add to the overall cost if you're starting fresh with those components.
