I'm currently using a Ryzen 5700X and I'm considering building another PC. I've got a 32GB DDR4 RAM kit that cost me about 60 bucks. This new build will primarily be for work, light gaming, and some productivity tasks. I initially thought about using a Ryzen 5600 for the new PC, but the Intel 14600KF is around 90 euros more expensive. I'm curious about the performance difference between using the 14600KF instead of my 5700X, especially for the additional cost. Would it be worth it to upgrade for mostly work and light gaming?

If you're focused on gaming, the Intel LGA1700 CPUs don't perform significantly better with DDR4 compared to the Ryzen 5700X, especially in games. For productivity, the 14600KF might have the edge, so if you're leaning towards that build for work, it could be a smart choice. However, consider that the 5700X is more power-efficient, especially under heavy loads. In general, you probably won't notice a massive difference between the two setups for most tasks.
Yeah, benchmarks show that the 14600KF and Ryzen 5000X3D are pretty close, with the Intel only falling short in a few specific games.
For a balance between work and gaming, I'd recommend either going for the 5000X3D or the 14600K(F). Most of the other Ryzen 5000 chips won't give you the gaming performance you're looking for.
I was also considering the 5000X3D, but they're mostly priced at around 350 euros used, which is a lot!

But remember, not all DDR4 is the same! A good kit with speeds of 3600MHz can be quite close in performance to DDR5, especially with tuned B-die RAM being potentially faster than average DDR5 setups.
