Hey everyone! I've been out of the PC building game for about 15 years, but I'm getting ready to build a new computer. I have a Windows 10 USB and a license from an old dual-boot MacBook setup. Should I just use that license and upgrade to Windows 11, or do I need to purchase a whole new Windows 11 key? Also, can I create a Windows 11 bootable drive and still use my Windows 10 key? I'm curious about any advantages or disadvantages besides just the cost! Thanks for your help!

You should be good to go! I haven't tried it myself, but I think you can download Windows 11 directly from Microsoft's website and just enter your Windows 10 key during installation. It should activate just fine!
Honestly, I tried using my Windows 10 USB recently, but my PC wouldn't recognize the internet drivers, which made it a hassle. I ended up having to upgrade to Windows 11 anyway. Just a heads-up, my USB was really old, so newer ones might handle it better. Regardless, your Windows 10 license should work for either version. If you're fine with using Windows 11, just make a bootable drive and go for it!
Thanks for the insight! I don't mind Windows 11 since I'm using it on my laptop. Saving that $120 for the OS means I can invest in a better graphics card!
Thanks! I was hoping that was the case.
