Should I Worry About SSD Health When Buying Used?

I'm looking to buy a new SSD, but prices are really high, so I'm considering used ones. I've noticed that the health percentages for these used SSDs range from 91-95%. Is this a good purchase, or should I be worried about the SSD's health?

You're looking at a pretty durable SSD if it’s in that range. When it works, it works—there's not usually a middle ground with SSDs like there is with HDDs. Just inspect it and make sure it’s functioning correctly before you buy.

In my experience, SSDs tend to last a long time even at lower health percentages. I've never had one fail just from wear; most problems come from manufacturing defects. Plus, remember that SSDs don’t slow down like HDDs—they either work or they don't. If it’s working fine now, it's likely a good buy!

I've used a Samsung 980 non-pro as my OS drive for over 5 years, and it still reads like 96% health. No issues whatsoever. If you’re just using it for games, you should be good to go!

Honestly, 91-95% health is still pretty solid for used SSDs. Many of them will keep running smoothly for years at that level. Just be sure you're getting a good deal compared to new prices. Also, check the specific model since some brands tend to last longer than others. If the savings are significant, I’d say go for it, but always keep your important files backed up just in case!

At 91-95% health? I seriously doubt you'll wear it out before it’s outdated, unless you're using it for some super demanding tasks. I've had SSDs running just fine for years with similar health stats.
