Should We Trust AI for Personal Advice?

I've been using GPT a lot for various tasks, from coding to understanding personal situations. While it shines in structured data tasks like coding and analysis, I've found that leaning on it for personal life insights can be risky. Its responses can be confidently presented, making it tough to discern facts from fabrications, especially when dealing with subjective issues like personal relationships. I tried analyzing emotional conflicts with a close friend through GPT, and while it provided some impressive insights at first, it eventually repeated past mistakes, giving vague answers that didn't really address my concerns. This left me feeling more confused and helpless. Have any of you experienced this? What are your thoughts on relying on AI in emotional contexts?

I think we should remember that AI isn’t perfect. It's great for some insights but not always for deep personal issues. It can be pretty vague and sometimes just misses the mark.

Agreed, but it can still provide a different perspective that might help clarify things in your mind.

I've noticed that too! Sometimes GPT gives you the truth, but that's not always comforting. It's insightful, but it doesn't resolve anything. You need human support for that, for sure.

Honestly, I found the same issues. I try to add disclaimers in my prompts like "double-check your facts" or "only share verified information." It seems to improve the quality of responses.

That’s a good strategy! It can be frustrating when AI provides incorrect info, but having it fact-check is a simple fix.

For emotional stuff, I’ve had better luck with another AI called Claude. It pushes back a bit, which can be helpful when you're sorting out feelings.

I get where you're coming from! I make it a point to remind GPT at the end of our chats to consider everything it knows about me. It helps a lot when the situation is complex.

That's a smart approach! I think clear prompts really enhance the conversation.
