Hey everyone! I recently picked up a second-hand Asus ROG GU501GM laptop for school. It's been working fine for most tasks, but I'm having a really frustrating sound issue. Almost 99% of the time, there's no sound at all. I can use a Bluetooth speaker or headphones when I have them, but that's not always possible. I've gone through the hassle of reinstalling the audio drivers and even uninstalled everything audio-related, but still nothing works. It's getting really annoying, and I could use some help troubleshooting this! Here are my specs: Windows 11, Intel Core i7-8750H, 16GB RAM.

Sounds like a bummer! It could be a hardware issue, possibly with the sound card. Do you have any way to check if it’s actually the sound card? Like connecting external speakers? Also, I’ve had times where my Bluetooth and Wi-Fi were in and out, so using external adapters helped me out. Just a thought!
That’s frustrating. Let’s hope it’s something simple that you can fix easily!
I had a similar issue with my laptop where sometimes the sound just wouldn’t work. Have you checked your system BIOS settings? Sometimes tweaking those can help. Just be careful because changes can lead to data loss, so make sure you back everything up first! You might want to check out the community FAQs too for extra tips.
Yeah, I tried using external speakers, but that didn't work either. I'm starting to worry it might be a hardware problem.
