I accidentally spilled water on my Asus laptop, right on the keyboard, and I started hearing sizzling sounds almost immediately. I powered it off within 20 seconds and kept it in a V shape for 24 hours while reaching out to Asus support. I'm really worried about what might have happened to the internal components. Could there be serious damage? I'm completely lost and scared. Can anyone help me understand what could be going on?

Did it still turn on after the spill, or was it just making strange sounds? If it was running before you turned it off and now seems unresponsive, it’s likely that there’s some damage that needs professional repairs. If your Asus warranty covers liquid damage, that’s definitely worth checking out. Otherwise, tell a local repair shop what happened.
It sounds like the water may have short-circuited a component inside your laptop. The extent of the damage really depends on where the water got in. It could be as simple as needing a new keyboard, or it might have affected more crucial parts like the motherboard. Also, be mindful of long-term issues like corrosion if it's not properly dried out.
I heard the sizzling from the right side near the numpad. Did it really damage my fan, or is there a chance it’s just the keyboard? That noise has me worried!
When the water spilled, it was working fine for a few moments before all the zzz sounds started. I was just moving it around to clean up the spill when it made those noises. Now I've kept it in a V position for quite some time, so I’m really worried.
