Struggling to Install MX Linux – GUI Crashes Back to Terminal

Hey folks, I'm on a quest to switch from Mint to MX Linux, but it's been a huge headache. Initially, when I clicked 'Install,' it just launched a terminal installer that seemed stuck. I gave it a go, but it didn't lead anywhere. After that, I recreated the live USB, and thankfully, the GUI fired up. I was able to interact for about 30 seconds before it crashed and tossed me back to the terminal installer again. I suspect it might be an issue with my GPU (GeForce 1050 Ti), but it seems to be recognized fine in the live environment. I'm in a bit of a jam now. While I'm okay sticking with Mint, MX Linux really seems like the right fit for me. Any insights on what the issue could be?

It sounds like your installation media might be the culprit. When you first launched the terminal installer, did you see any specific error messages? If the GUI started on the second try, that’s a good sign, but you might want to check the integrity of your USB drive or the downloaded ISO. You can usually do this from the GRUB menu before booting into the live environment. That could save you a lot of hassle!

You should definitely check out some installation tips we have in our wiki! Also, always connect your device using an ethernet cable during installation for better stability. And remember to remove the boot media once you're done! Those little things can make a big difference in getting everything set up smoothly.
