Struggling to land a DevOps internship—any advice?

Hey everyone, I'm really in a tough spot right now. I'm currently in my internship semester, and I'm feeling the pressure because I haven't secured an internship or a full-time job offer yet. I'm aiming to build my career in the DevOps field, and I've been actively applying to various positions. Despite my efforts—learning, practicing, and genuinely trying my best—I've had no success so far. It feels discouraging, especially when I see others who appear to be less dedicated landing opportunities.

I have a deadline of February 20 to find an internship, or I'll have to stay in college for another semester, which means I'd graduate without any industry experience. The thought of that is really daunting for me. I'm worried about my job prospects after graduation since the uncertainty is starting to take a toll on my mental health. I'm reaching out for any guidance, leads, or just supportive words—anything would help right now.

It's tough seeing others succeed when you feel like you're putting in the effort, but remember that everyone's journey is different. Sometimes it just takes a different approach. Have you considered networking or reaching out to contacts in the industry? A referral can often make a huge difference. Focus on what you can control in the next 30 days, like refining your application strategy and practicing interview skills.

You might want to think about broadening your search a bit. DevOps roles can be competitive and might not always be the best fit for an internship. It might be worth applying for software engineering roles where you can still gain relevant experience, and shift your focus to DevOps concepts while you're working. That way, you're building your skills and getting a foot in the door.

Where are you located? That can really impact your job search, as some areas have more opportunities in tech than others. If you're in a city with a lot of tech companies or startups, it might be easier to find internships. Consider local job boards or meetups to connect with potential employers!
