I'm having issues getting my fibre internet connection to work properly on my PC. I have a functional fibre connection via a new Cat6 cable that works well on other devices. My speed stats show a ping of 9ms, a download speed over 100 Mbps, and an upload speed around 2-3 Mbps. I've done everything I can think of: I downloaded new drivers, tried using an RJ45 to USB-A adapter, and made adjustments to my internet settings, but nothing seems to help. The connection also drops randomly, which makes it unstable. Interestingly, the speeds were actually better when I was connected through a Wi-Fi router instead of directly via fibre. What else can I try? Is it possible there's something wrong with my PC?

It sounds like you're trying to connect directly to the fibre without a router, which might explain some issues. Normally, ISPs provide just one IP address, and to connect multiple devices, a router is necessary. Can you clarify how your network is set up? Where does that Cat6 cable come from? Are you bypassing a router? That might be part of the problem.
You mentioned using a USB adapter. What’s the type of USB port you’re using? If it’s a standard USB-A and not a higher-speed version, it might throttle your speeds. Also, have you checked your PC specs? Depending on the machine, it could affect how it handles the fibre.
I get that it’s frustrating, but let’s take a step back. It sounds like you expect around 300 Mbps, but your PC is only hitting 100/3. If your cables are good, the problem could definitely lie within your PC. Have you run any diagnostics on it?
Just to point out, fibre and ethernet cables operate differently. If you're seeing poor performance specifically on your PC, it could be a hardware issue or a configuration problem. Have you considered resetting your network settings or checking for any software conflicts?
