Struggling with Nvidia Drivers on Linux After Upgrade

I've been using CachyOS without any issues until I upgraded from an RX550 to an RTX3060 12GB. Since then, everything has gone downhill, especially after the recent update to the Nvidia 590xx drivers. Now my system is completely broken, and I'm looking for a Linux distribution that works well with Nvidia drivers and is stable. I've tried Fedora and Pop!_OS, but they didn't work for me. Should I just reinstall CachyOS again, or are there better alternatives out there?

When I was using Fedora, I had to add "nomodeset" to the Linux line in GRUB to get it to boot properly after installing the Nvidia drivers. It's a common workaround that helped me get around a black screen boot issue.

If gaming is your main goal, consider looking for an immutable distro like Bazzite. For general use, Opensuse Tumbleweed is also great, offering a good balance between having the latest packages and stability.

I had similar issues with Pop!_OS and my Nvidia driver setup. Sometimes a complete purge and reinstall of the Nvidia drivers can fix installation issues after an upgrade. It's worth trying!

For a rock-solid solution, I highly recommend trying Fedora Silverblue. It’s immutable, which means updates won’t break your system easily, and you can switch desktop environments with ease.

It's not just you—the latest Nvidia drivers have been causing problems for many users. I recommend downgrading to a stable version of the drivers. It could save you a lot of headaches while you figure this out.
