Struggling with RDP on Windows Server 2025 – Need Help!

Hey everyone! I'm currently working with Proxmox and running some Windows Server VMs, specifically Windows Server 2025, and I'm having a tough time with RDP issues. We've started bringing in new customers who are using Windows Server 2025 RDP, but the experience has been really frustrating. We're implementing RemoteApp publishing so users can launch only authorized software, but we keep running into problems. During their work sessions, RemoteApp connections get disconnected, especially when using software like Caseware, which is super annoying. Other custom applications also seem to behave poorly, especially when printing, which causes disconnections or weird glitches. I've tried a bunch of tweaks and workarounds, but nothing seems to help. Right now, I'm not sure if the issues stem from the custom software, something with Microsoft, or Proxmox Virtio drivers. Should I wait for fixes from Microsoft or others, or is it better to switch back to Windows Server 2022 or consider another RDP solution? I'd really appreciate any insights or advice! Thanks!

You might want to keep your broker and licensing setup but consider adding some Windows Server 2022 nodes to your setup. Configuring those could help ease some of the issues you're experiencing.

Was your setup migrated from another system, or is it a fresh install? If it’s been migrated, make sure to clean up any old stuff from VMware or other sources. Also, double-check that you’re using the latest Virtio drivers, especially for network and storage.

Have you tried just turning it off and on again? 😂 It sounds silly, but sometimes a fresh start can clear a lot of issues.

We had a similar situation with RemoteApp publishing and eventually ditched it for full Windows environments for all users. It helped a lot and reduced the number of issues we faced.

100% agree with you on that one!

Same here, we tried RemoteApp multiple times and always had issues, even with Microsoft Office applications.
