Struggling with Windows 10 ESU Keys Not Working

I'm stuck trying to deploy Windows 10 ESU keys across multiple machines using a script, and I'm really hitting a wall with Microsoft's licensing system. I have a Microsoft Tenant set up with various licenses like Business Premium, E3, and F3, but when I try to install the ESU key using the 'slmgr.vbs /ipk' command, I get an error: 'Error: 0xC004E016'. This happens even when my test user has the necessary licenses. I've also tried to remove the relevant enterprise licenses, but this doesn't fix the issue. When I try to update the license manually, it reverts to Windows Pro but still shows errors. I've been able to get the key working when I removed the Enterprise licenses before joining Azure AD, but now, I'm trying to figure out how to get that Windows subscription off my machines without a complete reload or waiting for the subscription to drop off in 30 to 90 days. Any suggestions?

I read that ESU keys for Windows 10 were supposed to go live after it formally reaches EOL, which is not quite yet. You might want to check the latest updates to get accurate info on availability.

Yeah, I thought the same but I believe they started rolling out on Pax8 a while back. Just might not be fully functional yet.

Honestly, this sounds like a hassle! You might want to consider reaching out directly to Microsoft's support. They usually have the most up-to-date info, even though it can be a bit of a wild goose chase.

Right? Their support can feel like a sinkhole. I'm more interested in if anyone else has faced this issue, since I couldn't find anything useful on it either.

I hear you! I’ve done a bit of searching too, but it looks like you're right—it’s a quiet void.

Checking out Microsoft's documentation is often the best bet. They stated that ESU Multiple Activation Keys won’t be usable until the end of support for Windows 10. You might be caught in that limbo right now, which is frustrating!

Interesting. I tried that VM test without the Business/Enterprise licenses, and it worked fine for me. Could be worth sticking to that setup!

We also opened a ticket regarding keys not showing up, and they mentioned something about the ESU not functioning properly with certain setups as of now. It seems like Microsoft might still be working out the kinks.

I got the ESU key activated on a Pro machine recently, so it can work—Microsoft might just be handling specific scenarios differently.
