Stuck on a Blue Screen Trying to Install Windows – Help Needed!

Hey everyone, I've been stuck for about 25 hours trying to get Windows to install on my PC and it's driving me crazy! I initially managed to get to the installation screen after tweaking some BIOS settings, but I ended up partitioning the drives incorrectly. After going back into the BIOS and changing more settings, I'm now just staring at a blank blue screen. I'm seriously starting to think there's an issue with my BIOS or possibly my Ryzen 7 9700X CPU, which I bought used on eBay. Here are my specs to give you an idea:
- Asus B650E-I motherboard
- Ryzen 7 9700X CPU
- Kingston Fury 32GB DDR5 6000 (which passed a memtest86)
- Radeon 6700XT GPU
- New 2TB Predator GM7 M.2 (I had Windows on this before but cleared it)

I've tried using Rufus and Ventoy with various Windows ISO versions (both 10 and 11), different USB drives, and experimented with different BIOS boot settings. I even tried a different motherboard (MSI B650M) but got the same result, so I'm back to the Asus. On the bright side, I was able to install Ubuntu without any issues, though I'm not very familiar with it. I have a Ryzen 5 9600X on the way, but I'd like to solve this issue while keeping my 9700X since it was a good deal. Any BIOS experts out there who could assist? I'd really appreciate any suggestions!

Have you managed to get into your BIOS settings at least? It's crucial because many B650 motherboards might not support the Ryzen 7 9700X unless you update the BIOS. If your BIOS is up to date and you’re still encountering the blue screen, it could be a faulty CPU, especially since it was bought used. I'd also recommend checking your RAM or your GPU if you're using one. Try recreating the Windows install USB from scratch as well—sometimes that helps!

I can get into the BIOS without any problems, and I did update to the latest BIOS on both motherboards. It's weird that I managed to get to the Windows install screen once and that Ubuntu works fine, so I'm not sure if the CPU is the issue. Thanks for the tips!

It sounds like you might need to do a BIOS update. Grab a flash drive, format it to FAT32, and load the BIOS update files onto it. You can then use the flash drive to update the BIOS directly. That might solve the problem!

I actually tried updating the BIOS first, but unfortunately, it didn’t help. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
