Stuck with Boot Issues After Installing a New Drive

I'm dealing with a frustrating problem on my PC. It has a ROG motherboard that uses M2 lids with adhesive. My Windows 11 installation is corrupted on the current drive, and I'm worried about losing important work information. So, I decided to buy a new drive and start fresh. However, after the installation process reaches the first reboot, it still tries to boot from the corrupted drive. Since I bought an identical drive, I fear the names could be conflicting. Unfortunately, I can't just remove the old drive without risking damage, and I'd prefer to avoid heavy dismantling if possible. Is there a way to remove the bad drive from the boot records without having to wipe it?

You may want to check your BIOS settings; you can adjust the boot priority to favor the new drive over the old one. If the drive names are identical, just start eliminating by switching the boot order—set the new drive as your first choice. It’s a good way to see if that does the trick. Good luck!

I tried that, but only one drive appears in the BIOS, and the USB I'm using to install Windows doesn't show up at all alongside it.

A good backup is essential before making changes to the BIOS or drives; it can save you a lot of headaches. If you're unsure about making those adjustments, tread carefully and ensure you have your data secure first.
