I'm currently deploying my backend server on Render's free tier, but I'm facing issues with slow performance due to cold start latency. Can anyone recommend some free deployment platforms for my backend? Also, if you know of any student discounts available on other platforms, I'd really appreciate your input!

Absolutely, cold starts can be a real headache with Render! I recommend Back4app; it uses the open-source Parse framework and the free tier has tons of features like a database and APIs, all without cold starts. Also, Vercel and Netlify might be worth considering. They’re mainly for front-end, but you can run light backends or serverless functions for free. Just be cautious of their usage limits!
Are you using a serverless option like AWS Lambda? Because you shouldn't run into cold start issues with a regular always-on backend. If you're looking for alternatives to Render, check out Railway! They've got a straightforward setup and offer decent free credits each month, which helps reduce those annoying cold starts.

Thanks for the suggestions!
